Merino Sires
Traditionally, the Benmore flock was founded on a Merryville genetic base.
Since the mid 2000's, Centre Plus, Earnscleugh and Nerstane sires have been introduced to lift overall flock productivity.

During the last five years, we have made a deliberate shift toward selecting sires that offer a balanced combination of carcass performance, reproductive efficiency and wool quality. This has been achieved largely through the use of artificial insemination, primarily utilising imported frozen semen.

Alongside these influential sires, we have retained and used a significant number of their sons—chosen for their ability to maintain the wool quality Benmore is renowned for, while also delivering the productivity gains of the newer genetics.

The table below outlines estimated breeding values (EBVs) for key traits of the sires introduced into the Benmore genetic pool over the past five years.
