Merino Sires

Traditionally the Benmore flock had a Merryville base, in the last 10 years Centre Plus, Earnscleugh and Nerstane sires have been used to improve the productivity of the sheep. 

 

Over the last 5 years we have made conscious effort to use sires that have a balance of carcass, reproduction and wool.  To do this we have been utilising artificial insemination of mainly imported frozen semen.

 

In addition to these key sires we have retained and used a lot of sons of these animals that demonstrate the wool quality Benmore is renowned for as well as the productivity the new genetics are bringing to the table.
